| BATTLESTAR GALACTICA - WHAT CAN I SAY? What can I say about the re-imagined version of Battlestar Galactica that hasn't already been said? Either people loved it, hated it or didn't get it, not much room for anything beyond that. But for me, I got it, I got it bad for this ground breaking series, and have seen every episode, webisodes, Razor, Caprica, have read books on the subject as well as endlessly listen to the stirring music from the scores. Many folks think the show is a space opera or science fiction, which I guess I can understand. However, there are no aliens of the week in the series - it is a series that has made me THINK - it's a show that parallels what is going on in the world today, a show that isn't afraid to tackle taboo subjects, and a show that makes the viewer care about the characters, characters who are multi dimensional and who can switch allegiances at the drop of a hat. I miss Battlestar Galactica, but will be able to enjoy the episodes over the years over and over, for it truly was a series that turned audiences on its ear. Abortion, religion, prisoner's rights. rape, immigration, genocide... all were dealt with, and at times it was uneasy to watch these topics addressed, but again, it made me THINK, which so little of television does these days. If you haven't checked out the series and are just a little bit curious now, then I encourage you to take a chance and watch it. |
