DUST UNDER THE RUG
J.R. EATON
7/4/2006  8:14 pm

In the life that we live
And all that we give
The things that benefit us most
Is dust under the rug

Swept aside, hidden under
So we do not have to deal
With our fears and shortcomings
That plague us from day to day

Life is full of beauty
If we only open our eyes
From the onset of the sunset
To the warmth of the new sunrise

Beauty never ends
More oft is lost
In the busy days of our lives
And we never heed the cost

Walking on the beach
With a cool summer breeze
Hand in hand, a warm embrace
With someone close

The pounding surf
The beating of the waves
The beating pulses inside
And pounding of hearts

New feelings
New sensations
New conversations
Steering clear of expectations

So hard at times
Not to rush in
And have the feelings
Consume

But times bides us well
As things shift inside
The dust under the rug
Is exposed

Blown away
Sent back to uncertainty
And hesitance
As new emotions take shape

Timbs and fists
Eyes locked and gentle caresses
Thunder and lightning all ‘round
Regardless of location

It feels good to be alive
To reach to the skies
Heavens far far above
As the heart opens to receive life’s love

I stood in a grassy patch and looked up, up and away
At the ungodly hour of 2:30 in the morn
The Milky Way met my awestruck eyes
I stood there stunned, taking in the beauty

Of Mother Nature’s gifts, of God’s wonders
So many feelings, so many sensations
Of curling up next to you, of gazing in your eyes
The dust under the rug is gone, and
I feel… I feel… I feel….
So alive
WRITING -
I have been a struggling writer for the last twenty five years - struggling to make the
time and to keep my attention focused at finishing the novel I started back in the
1980's.  But don't get me wrong - though I have been out of practice, I still find time
to slam out the occasional poem or update one of my short stories.  I hope that
2008 will be the year I plant my ass down and focus on the task at hand - actually
finishing my first novel.  Time (and devotion as well as self-discipline) will tell.
Below is a poem I wrote a few years back - those who know me well know what is
all about
WORDS OF WISDOM

A day without sunshine is like night.

On the other hand, you have different fingers.

Remember, half the people you know are below average.

He who laughs last, thinks slowest.

Depression is merely anger without enthusiasm.

The early bird may get the worm, but the second mouse gets the
cheese in the trap.

Support bacteria. They're the only culture some people have.

How many of you believe in psychokinesis? Raise my hand.

OK, so what's the speed of dark?

Hard work pays off in the future.  Laziness pays off now.

What happens if you get scared half to death, twice?

Why do psychics have to ask you for your name?

Just remember...if the world didn't suck, we would all fall off.

Light travels faster than sound.  That's why some people appear
bright until you hear them speak.
Thank you very much for taking

This is one of the most haunting images of the WTC lights I
have seen, and not just because I snapped the photograph.
It was in September 2008 and I had just emerged from the
PATH train subway at the Christopher Village stop, and this
greeted my eyes, sending a chill down my spine.....
WISE (AND NOT SO WISE) QUOTES

*Never underestimate the predictability of stupidity*

If you have a list of screen-names in your profile of
dudes that didn't return their pic to yours -- face it,
you're ugly.

STOP LOOKING for "Mr. Right" and BECOME "Mr. Right"

"There's no such thing as stupid questions, just stupid
people."

Some people are like Slinkies...not really good for
anything, but ya can't help but smile when ya see one
tumble down the stairs...

"People are like stained-glass windows, They sparkle
and shine when the sun is out , but when the darkness
sets in , their true beauty is revealed only if there is a
light from within !"

IF U WANT TO PLAY WITH THE BIG DOGS... DON'T PEE
LIKE A PUPPY

"Sex is cheap, but, clearly, you shop wholesale."

Don't let your weaknesses weaken your strengths but
use your strengths to strengthen your weaknesses.

It's ok for you to get lost in thought, it's probably
unfamiliar territory.

Advice is what we ask for when we already know the
answer but we wish we didn't
